Last evening, around 10:35 PM, I got a disturbing phone call from my bearding counterpart, the Ham. He reported to me, with great pain and sorrow, that he must remove himself from the beard-off we are so deeply engaged in. I didn't want to believe my ears. Team Beard was being torn apart before planned. What a drama!

Now, he and I do not take these things lightly and I knew there would have to be a good reason behind this tragedy. There was. He has to take photos with his girlfriend's family this weekend for her graduation and she doesn't want him looking like a hobo. Honestly, I can't blame her for that. They just aren't the best for family photos...especially with little kids running around.

He has assured me the beard-off will take place again next year, same bat-time, same bat-channel, and that he will be coming with a vengeance like nothing I've ever seen before.

Don't fear, my friend, the spirit of the beard lives on and I plan on continuing for the both of us until our planned shave-off on January 1, 2005.  I may even extend its tour of duty by a few days in honor of our fallen soldier.

It has been nothing but a pleasure working with you, and your beard. I wish you the best of luck with your shaving efforts and pray you are blessed with minimal nicks, cuts and razor burn.

Mourning a great loss,
schrags
